Our summer vacation for 2017 was to Branson, MO. Royce thinks he had maybe been there as a child but I had never been. We wanted to go some place we could all explore together! It was a wonderful vacation. Several times throughout the week Royce and I commented on how we felt like we had four kids, not toddlers anymore. There were no panicked bathroom breaks, no feeding schedules, nothing had to be over-planned. We could be spontaneous, we could all laugh, swim, and explore together. It was truly enjoyable by all of us.
We stayed at the Inn at Village Point for the first three nights of our trip. We got into vacation mode, swam at the resort, and spent time in Table Rock Lake. We rented a kayak and Chloe also paddle boarded. It was a lot of fun! We really enjoyed Indian Point.
The last two nights of our trip we surprised the kids. We booked a treehouse!
They were quite surprised when we pulled up to THIS for our stay!
But they were SOOOO excited!
And HERE was our bathroom!
And kitchen sink, hahaha!
Since hindsight is 20/20, we should have reversed our stays. We should have gone primitive first. At the end of a five-day vacation it's a full-time job to keep everybody pulled together, keep everyone positive, keep laundry in order, and keep having a good time darn it! So the fact that we were pulling everyone together AND staying in a treehouse could have definitely have put us over the edge. But it didn't. We handled it like champs and had a great time in that little treehouse. If there's a next time though, we will stay in the treehouse first and then go to the resort for comfy furniture, multiple rooms, and a connected bathroom.
Dixie Stampede was a treat! Oh how much fun we had. It had rained most of the day and we cleaned up at the treehouse and headed to the show. By advice from friends we knew we could walk around the stables ahead of time so we took advantage of being there early. The kids all picked horses that they liked! The size variations and breed differences were amazing to look at.
Our kids were at a PERFECT age for enjoying Dixie Stampede. They laughed and laughed so hard! The show was amazing and Skeeter the comedian was hilarious.
Amelia had made her way to Royce's lap during one of Skeeter's funny skits. She was laughing so hard he could feel her tummy so tight. Then at a hilarious point of his skit she exclaimed to Royce,
"I think I just peed a little!" That go this attention! We all laughed so hard at her comment!
Last on the agenda - Silver Dollar City!
Our kids had not ever been to a big amusement park of any sort. This was new for them!
And it was great fun for Royce and I to be able to jump on rides with them and thoroughly enjoy the day. We packed lunches and snacks and rode as many rides as we could. Chloe and I did a big roller coaster together and we even got Isaac and the twins on board so all six of us rode the Powder Keg! Not bad for 5-year olds! It was a really intense roller coaster!
We rode rides, we watched a magician, we walked all over, and we ended the day where we started. Except we had changed clothes to dry!
The first time the kids rode this ride Caroline was upset because she hadn't been big enough for a ride Chloe, Isaac, and I rode. So this last time we rode it Royce and I surprised the kids by jumping on with them. It was a great last ride for all of us together.
