This was a big year for Chloe! She qualified for all events in her 1-9 age group and showed up to State ready to compete. Goble was healthy and the pair were ready to roll.
The first day went off without a hitch. She got first and second in all events!
Sometimes I underestimate just how big Goble is!
Or maybe just how little Chloe is! ha!
They were movin' and groovin'!
Day two was a little different. It rained several inches over night. The arena was wet! They delayed the start of the show for a couple hours but then it was time to ride, wet or not. Everyone was on an equal playing field and they show needed to go on.
Chloe and Goble took the first event slow, just as most did, and slowly the events sped up as the arena dried. It was during the second or third event however that Goble turned the tables on Chloe and took the bit from her, taking off through the arena. Luckily Justin was right in good view and knew exactly how to handle Goble. The rest of the day brought shorter reins and a more aggressive bit for our good boy and he got back to competing with his girl.
Before the results were read we celebrated Chloe and her fantastic day!
FINALLY! After 9pm the results were read.
A THREE WAY TIE for FIRST!
Clay Guttery ended up with the official 1st after comparing number of first places in events.
Chloe ended up with 2nd and Riley ended up with 3rd.
It was a race to the finish and while I'm sure Chloe was disappointed we could not have been more proud of her and how she recovered after Goble's issues early in the day.
This season was about growth and stepping out of her comfort zone and she executed wonderfully.
Goble's back appreciates that nice new saddle blanket much better than a silly ole' belt buckle anyway, right...???!!!????
